I think William married Mary Jones 1863 abergavenney. Checked Monmouth parishes and Llangua is same parish as Eways Harold, Grosmont and kentchurch and Mary Jones on the 1861 census says a nursemaid visitor from Llantilio which is by Llavertherine. still trying to work out the parishes but at least its hopeful.

Ruth

Ruth Report 16 Aug 2014 17:03

Its very confusing I was told by family member that he was William Thomas Price but found no record to this I was also told that William had died before Hannah remarried but found no evidence of death . I have found a William price 1803 born llantilio crossenny Raglan and on the 1851 census it says living white cross Monmouth. now there is a white cross, Broom I will try and work that family forward to see if there is a connection

Gritty

Gritty Report 16 Aug 2014 16:19

Just a note on the original query for William Thomas Price- I don't see any evidence of a second name 'Thomas'. He's only William on the census, miltary record and his marriage in 1904.

Where did the Thomas come from?

I think his wife remarried a William Thomas

If you have no more luck, you might need a birth cert - maybe this one? Bit of a gamble I know, but if the right one would give Mary's maiden name at least:

Births Dec 1879 (>99%)
Price Aaron Hereford 6a 515

Perhaps Broom is the English census enumerator's attempt at a Welsh name.

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MON/parishes.html

Maybe this place?? Brynbuga / Usk

EDIT:
From a quick Google search, I see there's a Broom Lane and a Broom House in Raglan, Usk, Monmouthshire - maybe a clue??

Copied from other thread - Ruth has been advised to return here to avoid duplication:

'Hi, I need help again with Price family. William Price brn 1842 Broom, Monmouthshire earliest census record I can find is 1881 living Herefordshire married Mary brn Llanfetherine Monmouthshire. Cant find out where Broom is to give me an idea where I should be looking. Even web search comes up with anything from where to buy brushes and Broom as the name of a person, any help appreciated.'
