The deaths as requested:

1968 BAILLIE IAN M 49 CALDERHEAD /LANARK 626/0B 0021

1992 BAILLIE IAN (other surname BAYNE) M 30 BONESS AND CARRIDEN /WEST LOTHIAN 700/00 0070

2011 BAILLIE IAN M 62 MUSSELBURGH /EAST LOTHIAN 760/00 0422

Going by age alone, it's perhaps possible that the man who died in 1968 could be the one who was born in 1918.

Thank you for replying. My dates were approx and I know virtually nothing of the man. and no-one who met him is alive! he apparently told people he was from scotland and did not hang around after the birth of a son. He said he was married and paid the mother to name the child the same as him Ian Andrew Baillie. He apparently briefly reaapeared after his wife died and proposed to the mother who rejected. He went away and was not heard of again. A rather sad story. I can not tie him up with any english records and do not have enough info to narrow him down to the point that certificates would help. I probably need a descendant of ian baillie with suspicians to put two and two together. Would you mind giving me the 3 death details please?
Thank you again for your help and advice Cheers Patrick :-)

That's not much to go on, Patrick! I doubt if we'll be able to help.

On ScotlandsPeople website, I can't see any birth, marriage, or death (in suitable year ranges, based on the very approximate birth year you've given) of an Ian Andrew Baillie (or variant).

One birth of an Ian Baillie without any middle name, 1918, Carluke, Lanarkshire.
No marriages of an Ian Andrew, or an Ian without middle name, 1930-60.
There were three deaths of Ian Baillies, without any middle name, ranging from 1968 to 2011.

If you register with ScotlandsPeople and buy credits, you can search for yourself, and order copies of any certs you think might be relevant..

I know little of this close relative appart from his name he was born and i believe married in scotland but sired an illegitimate son in the midlands in 1951 and quickly returned to scotland. I would guess that his wife and family were not aware of the illegitimate child.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give1 :-)
