Hi

my sister was adopted (by my Mum). I tried looking for her birth cert on freebmd but can't find it under her adopted name.

I do know what her previous name was and I have just found a possible birth for her under that surname. Would it tell me her mothers name or would it be blamk as she was going to be put up for adoption.

The adopted name won't be on Freebmd. The adopted name will only appear on a 'short' birth cert(new name, place and date of birth only) issued after the legal process.

The original birth cert will have mothers name, possibly her usual address and birth address.
