I have a print out of the Naval service record of Rupert Henry Trout born 1874 Topsham ,Devon. His date of birth was 8/10/1874.

On his service record it looks like it says he was 12 years when he joined up ? But the date beside it looks to me like 8 Oct 1882 which makes him 10! His height is given upon enlistment as 5ft 2.5 and then at age 18 as 5 ft 6.5. So he was younger than 18 when he joined. Can anyone else please have a quick look and see if they can make sense of it? thanks.

Thank you -thats a different address than I had -so that's very interesting -thank you.
Sorry to be vague. I had lots of info but my computer crashed and i am now working from bits of paper and some things I had on a memory stick. I do have everything else about the family though. Its just really the query of when he joined up. (I'm doing a piece for our church for November 11th)

Are you able to scan the print out and sent it by e-mail? - If so, I would be happy to take a look and see if I can decipher it,.

Let me know and I will pm you my direct e-mail address.
