Flip & Ricochet,

Henry is a 2nd cousin, three time removed and I can't afford a certificate at this time. I have lots of folks in these two parishes and have even been there in person. A number of them seem to use the two place names in different censuses. I haven't seen the tree yet, but have looked at census and IGI. One of her brothers is also on my tree, married to the widow of a 2gg uncle. This family seems not to have been church attenders, although strangely all three children were married in one of the two churches.

Before I ask for help again, I will look at Ancestry trees, which I do frequently. I got lazy this time.

Thanks for the suggestions,

Charlotte

Eaton Bray and Edlesborough adjoin one another....so not really any doubt there

Charlotte.. I would have posted the marriage quicker had I been used to copy and paste from a tablet :-)

I think you need to follow Ricochet's advice and get one of the birth certificates to be sure.

The tree on ancestry (now available) is showing years of birth for children and a year of marriage - no exact dates which would indicate to me the owner does not have anything to back up their findings. If it proves to be Ann Janes, then I think you'd need their marriage cert for her father's name - again the tree owner has plumped for the nearest christening, without any proof.

Seems some doubt as to her place of birth - they have linked to 1851/61 census where it state born Eaton Bray, Bedfordshire - this has been recorded after her marriage on 2 of the later census but others give Edlesborough.

If the childrens' births were registered, any of the certs will confirm Ann's maiden name

There's a tree on ancestry (Wicks) with them and their marriage, I've tried to look to see if they had more details of the marriage but ancestry is acting up at the moment and keep asking me to subscribe when I try to access a tree.....

What I can see, it gives her parents as Thomas Janes & Sarah Scrivener and her dob 11/5/1843. Henry's dob 16/5/1839. You would need to check this out though I still can't access the tree to see where the info has come from.

Jax,

How on earth did you find them in 12 minutes? Many thanks. I may just have overlooked that one because of the district name. Janes makes a lot of sense, they are loads aroung.

These two were both born in Edlesborough, Buckinghamshire but did not marry in the parish church there. I have tried off and on for years to find them in any source. They should have married 1865-6. 1911 married 46 yearx.
