Had a brief look at my prelim notes!
Looks like a John and Thomas Massey settled (or married) c 1740 in Knutsford.
John 1.----- is a joiner, who seems to have a John born 1744, Ann 1746
& Ruth 1749
Thomas, ----a labourer whose son William is born 1745 , Thomas 1747, john , Mary 1752, William 1756, Ruth 1760

A decade later-
John 2. of Booths, Husbandman/Farmer-- has Sarah 1749,Elizabeth 1752, Mary 1756 ,---then possible lives at Bexton
Richard Massey of Ollerton settles there 1755+ children- John 1761, Mary1763, William 1765, Mary1767, Thomas 1768.

Another decade and
William Massey, Husbandman of Knutsford -Sarah 1764, Sally 1765, Thomas 1768 and possible 1771 Jane born at Sudlow.

Hope this helps...

No. 'my' John Massey of Tabley, was born and baptised in Rostherne Hamlet.
He seems to have had 4 sons, John born 1730, Richard Born 1736, George born 1740, Lawrence 1742- 1743 ----plus 2 females.

I have not yet plotted the children of these other sons, though I suspect that John became a Farmer at Booths, Nether Knutsford. married to Elizabeth Burgess.

As the names William, George, Richard, and John are constantly repeated it iis very difficult to be sure who they all are. Massey name only starts to appear in Knutsford about 1730 I think, they are more centred around Rostherne parish.

That is the correct baptism - and burial for his wife Sarah Cherry. As you see it imply that Richard is still alive at this date.

I have the 'tree' before and after Richard, just never found his burial - which seems odd. Since wife & children are at St Johns.
There are however several errors in on line transcriptions - as being shown as Mafsey in the index.

Richard and Sarah had 7 children=
Betty 1760-1779
John 1761- several possible adults
Mary 1763- 1766
Sophia - 1764
William 1765 - 1811 line followed - m Hannah Moores of Toft
Mary 1767-1776
Thomas 1768 several possible.adults

The Richard Massey of Ollerton, bap 3 Nov 1736, Rostherne, son of John Massey of Tabley, Cordwainer.
Married by Licence at Sandbach, - Sarah Cherry previously of Mobberley - in Sept 1759.
His son William Massey, Cordwainer, is buried in Knutsford in 1811.(married)

I haven't seen the Ashton on Mersey death, are there any further details? I know that there are Massey branches everywhere in Cheshire, and its hard to disconnect them all.
There are a couple of RM born in the period in Bowdon, etc. that I have had to follow through.
thank you -will have a look at that,
:-)

Looking for the burial of a Richard Massey- sometimes transcribed as MAFSEY.

Born 1736, Rostherne, but a Farmer at Ollerton, Nr Knutsford, Cheshire, England.

Wife buried at St Johns, Knutsford in 1775 aged 43. A couple of children there too.
He would have been 40 at this point but had farmed in Ollerton for 20 years.
Not on St John, Knutsford or St Marys, Rostherne, Parish Registers.

Not the Richard Massey buried at Blackley Manchester.
Any suggestions please?
