Find Ancestors

According to the 1911 census Thomas Scholes has been married to Emily Brierley for 13 yrs. The marriage took place at St Jame's Church, Bolton. Lancashire. England on 03/07/1897. On viewing the original it says 1 child born to this marriage. It is this child I am trying to find, many thanks.

Yes they are both together at what appears to be Arthur St, Bolton

so according to the 1911 the child is no longer living

have you tried FreeBMD for a birth and death of a child from 1897 when they married

well from 1897 for Bolton reg district there are quite a few childrens deaths fro Scholes

It would cost some checking them all out .

I have found a Joseph b and d in 1897 in Bolton but unsure if this is the correct one..

Lancashire BMD sit doesn't pick up any reg birth for them, but it looks like all the area hasnt been covered as yet

That's a shame, Shirley, because a lot of the entries on there for the Bolton area give the mother's maiden name. A tree on Ancestry has Emily MN as Counsel.

I can't find the Joseph Mark mentions in 1897; the only one on freebmd was born in Bury but there is no death.

It might be a long wait, but Lancashire BMD will probably transcribe those areas sometime.

Edit: there is a death for Joseph in Bury in 1898. That 1897 birth is on LancsBMD, MMN Stubbs.

Just noticed that Mark gives Emily as Brierley and that is the only marriage I can find, so the tree on Ancestry has wrong MMN.
