Witnesses were George Musgrove and Mary Bohill.
Mary Bohill was my mam's aunt - George's sister.

If you have the marriage certificate of Margaret to George Bohill, who were the witnesses? (Just in case someone was related to Margaret)

Denise Report 27 Jul 2014 15:51

The only certain info I have is from marriage, death and birth certificates

My mam - mothers maiden name was Douglas, born 1932, Margaret Anne Elizabeth

and as mentioned previously.

My mam always said she went to live with liitle grandma when she was 2 1/2 when her mam died ( she was actually 4 when she died but her mam had tuberculous) and that grandma said she would only look after her if her other grandparents had nothing to do with her. While I have been looking I found that when her mam and dad married, they were already expecting my mam (made some sense to me as I was told that her grandma was staunch irish catholic).

Hi This is on a transcription from Northumberland & Durham Family History Society
under Northumberland and Durham Baptisms reads County Durham, 1912, August Mothers given name Mary, Father William Charles.

Again not sure if this is the right one, just the only one I can find that is close,

Parish History

WEARMOUTH (Bishop)( St Thomas), a township and two sub-districts in Sunderland district, and a parish partly also in Easington and Houghton-le-Spring districts, Durham. The township lies on the coast, at the mouth of the river Wear; includes a large portion of Sunderland town; and is all within Sunderland borough. The parish contains also Burdon and Silksworth townships; and is ecclesiastically cut into the sections of B.-W., B.-W.-St. Thomas, B.-W. St. Peter, Ford, Deptford, Ryhope, Hendon, Silksworth, Millfield, and Pullion.[1]

Bishopwearmouth St Thomas was created as a parish in 1844 from parts of the neighbouring parishes of Bishopwearmouth St Michael, Bishopswearmouth St Peter, Hendon St Paul, Monkswearmouth St Cuthbert, Monkwearmouth Venerable Bede and Sunderland Holy Trinity.[2]

Just that when I looked for a marriage for a William C Douglas to a Mary, this showed (wrong Hendon)

Yes this is the right Margaret Bohill, I have the death certificate, they lived 136 Violet Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne. She died of Tuberculous. No middle name or initials on this certificate either.

Denise

Denise Report 27 Jul 2014 07:52

Hi

I have George W Bohill's background, and yes that is their marriage, I have a marriage certificate
info on that is William Douglas - Labourer on Railway - lived at 16 Maple Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne. Margaret at age of marriage was 19. They were married at St Michaels Catholic Church, Westmorland Road, Newcastle.

I am searching as my mam (Margaret & George's daughter) was brought up by my great gran (George's mam) and would have nothing to do with Margaret family. So I the only info I have is this marriage certificate. I have searched records and I came up with a Margaret Douglas born in Hendon, Co. Durham, this was in church records, father William Charles Douglas, mother Mary.

Welcome to the boards Denise.

In what sense are you looking for him - do you want to trace the line backwards or forwards?

Either way, you could do with more info. Do you know when and where his daughter was born, or her mother's name?
