Find Ancestors

I am looking to find the parents names of a Henry Bunn and details of where his birth was registered.

Henry married a Mary Ann Quilter 7th September 1839 and appears on 1841,1851, 1871,1881 census records with his wife and many children.

Census records show that Henry was born about 1816. I have some notes from another relative who previously searched Henry and he has Henry's birth date as 15th May 1815. I have no idea where this date came from as I can't find any record of his birth. Can anyone help please?

His birth would not be registered

Civil registration dIdn't start until the GRO was formed in 1837

If you get a copy of the marriage cert, you will find out if he knew his father's details

Maddie - Dont think Samuel Cox and Elizabeth Bunn could be a match as then surname would have changed to Cox.

Hi everyone,

Wanted to give you all an update on my research, sorry for the delay. It seems that you were all correct-Henry Bunns parents were not married therefore he took is mothers maiden name (Bunn). His father could be a possible Samuel Cox.

I have managed to connect with 2 other people who share these ancestors on their tree and I am delighted to discover that they have managed to take the Bunn family back another two generations.
