Hi I am helping a good friend who her & her Brother were sent out from England to Australia on a ship.....the other sister remained in UK.

The family name was BARNES from Coventry ENG.
The Brother now deceased in (Sydney) his name was
Norman Barnes born abt 1923 Coventry
Sister Joan Barnes
and my friend still living.

She knows nothing at all abt her family...not even her Mother's Christian Name or Maiden name

the last available UK census is 1911

1921 will be released (maybe) in 2022

1931 was destroyed by fire

Thanks everyone for your kind help....Charlottte is the right Mother as my friends Mother who came out from UK on the Ship OTRANTO with her Brother Norman did have the information Charlotte was her Mother....my friends Mother (Margaret (Peggy)
didn't have contact with her brother until 45yrs after they arrive in Australia...but she doesn't know very much...not even if Norman was Married as she didn't see a wife.
Mel you said the father Allen Barnes on Ancestry TREE was a painter& decorator married to a Dorothy McCartney NSW 1947....can't follow properly did Allen remarry.

Is there any chance Mel you could send me the Ancestry information.

Ancestry trees are notoriously unreliable. The spelling of the first name isn't correct in this case

The death in Coventry seems to fit his birth, and there is a possible second marriage for him in Coventry, which you can see on freebmd

get a copy of the cert to find out for sure. the man's father's details will be on it
