Hello I am hoping someone can help me with information on Bridget Cassidy born 1828 in Ireland or Scotland. Have no information on her family. she did marry a Michael Doolan. They emigrated to Australia in 1857 arriving in Portland Victoria. Bridget died in 1876 at Naracoorte South Australia. Have lots of information on the Doolan side but cant seem to get a start on the Cassidy side. If someone could help I would much appreciate it

When and where did they marry please?
Is she on the 1851 census?

Thankyou for your replies. I was told that she married in Ireland Im not sure it could have been England. the ships passenger list said they sailed from England to Australia So quite possible they did marry in England. Im really sorry I dont have much to go on at all which makes it really difficult

Rootsireland.ie has no record of a Bridget Cassidy - Michael Doolan marriage.

Ive been looking on Irish Genealogy and cant find them on that either. Its very frustrating to only have a name.

Cheryl....Where did you access the Passenger List...? Was it an Assisted Passage...can you let me have the Ships name

Hello I got the information of the Victorian, Australia Assisted and Unassisted Passenger list 1839-1923 The ship was called British Empire arrived Portland Victoria 2 Sept 1857. It departed Plymouth England

Hello yes they had a daughter Bridget estimated birth 1800 Mary born 1855 and a young boy John born 1846. He doesn't seem to be Michael and Bridgets son.

Cheryl, are you sure about Bridget's birth? Did the boy John have the surname Doolan? What makes you think he wasn't their son?

Mother Bridget was born 1828 Michael was born 1832. Daughter bridget was 1857 Mary was 1855. John came to Australia with them with the surname Doolan. He was born 1846 which would have made Michael 14 when John was born. II'm thinking he could be a nephew
