His attestation paper is stamped 43rd Regiment, but you'ld need his service record to be sure.
The 43rd infantry battalion was one of 4 inf. bn's in the 9th inf brigade, one of 3 bde's in the 3rd Can division of the CEF.

Isn't it curious that on the marriage record he gives his age as 24 making him born 1893, on the 1901 census he's Robert Virton born 22 Aug. 1891, on the 1911 census he's a stepson born July 1891 and his mother is Cecilia Vonroegon but on his attestation papers his birthdate is 12 July 1890 and his mother is Cecilia Charters. Address is the same for 1911 census and his attestation.

He was 2 months old. Address 267 Bell St. Father was Robert born Ottawa, maiden name of mother Ethel Steeves born England.

I don't think the Robert in BC married Ethel. His (the one who married Ethel) father was listed on the marriage cert as David (deceased) a lumberman?.

Does anyone have connections with or information about David Charters b 1875 either in Ontario or British Columbia. His son, Robert Charter(s), b 1894 lived in BC and served in UK during WW1, married Ethel Steeds in Surrey, and then returned home to settle in Ottawa. I'm trying to establish the British roots of the Charters to see if John Charters, listed in the Index of Passports in 1860, was father of David above, and therefore the primary link to the UK..
