Hi JoonieCloonie. Thanks for your suggestion; I'll bear it in mind, although Henry's father Joseph was a labourer at the time of his son's marriage.

Many thanks for this Catherine. Unfortunately, I already have much of this info but I am most grateful for your efforts. Sorry, Henry & Hannah actually had four children: Hannah, Henry, Rebecca & William Alfred, although Rebecca died in India.
I find two snippets of info particularly interesting though. You give a date of their return home from India (25 Jan 1883). Which document is this info from? Also, would you recheck the version of marriage in Bristol Parish Register to see if the father is definitely Robert and not Joseph.
Thanks also to Argyll/Gran for the info. Unfortunately, neither of the census entries fit, as confirmed by later records.

Army record also shows he had 4 children but one looks to have been born 11 April 1880 and died in 1882 but can't make out the name (looks to be ? Robert)

Returned home on 25 jan 1883 and died in Woolwich on 7th March 1883 of (what looks to be) Pneumonie.

Hi Ken, you seem to know about his family so what information exactly are you looking for?
Do you know if he had any siblings?
If you have his marriage certificate, then what does his father give as occupation?

Ken

I am seeking info on Henry born in St Just, Cornwall c1840. Father was Joseph - mother's name unknown. Henry enlisted in Royal Artillery in 1861 as a gunner and had several tours of duty in India. He married Hannah in 1873 and took her to India where they had 3 children. They returned in 1883 and he died shortly afterwards in a military hospital in Kent, aged 43. Anybody recognise any of this?
