Hi Chris,

I didn't mean that you should reply personally to those who add posts to your thread. I just meant that if you use the reply button (as you have for the post above this one of mine) then we will see it.

I think you edited and added to your original post and that is what I didn't see.

I think Christopher must mean he has looked at the death record that I posted earlier. I think he has edited his original post as the post didn't mention that the marriage was in Chester or that he'd looked at a death record.

Christopher - if you want to add any more information could you please use the "add reply" button at the tip of the thread. I hadn't noticed that you had edited your original post until Reggie added his reply.

Which death record 'may be him'............I don't suppose there is only one for the name

I think the 1898 death for William Henry Lowe that Kath posted is correct.

On the 1911 census Thomas Arrowsmith and Lucy say they've been "married" 13 years, more likely that's how long they've been together - since just after W H Lowe died.

The reason they didn't marry until 1918 is because Thomas Arrowsmith was still married:

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Marriages Sep 1883
ARROWSMITH Thomas Nantwich 8a 505
DAVENPORT Sarah Nantwich 8a 505

His wife (b1864) is on the 1901 census as Sarah Walker - the give away is her Arrowsmith children.

I reckon Sarah must have died and then they felt free to marry.

We certainly do! I am hoping you have the marriage cert.
Quite interested how you have worked back to this marriage in the first place.

I don't know why the marriage didn't come up on my first try. Have found it now.

Do you know his occupation?

There is this William on the 1901 census (although not with his wife although it says "married"):-
