I wonder if this is the same Robert Gordon in 1920 - states he had been in US since 1882, and they married in 1887. Wife apppears to have been in US since 1877. |

The 1900 census actually states he arrived in US in 1872, not 1882 which would fit better with the story about the mother and 7 "children" going to America. |

Alan, do you have the 1859 birth cert? If so what other info is on it? Eg, father's occupation; mother's address; name of informant. |
