Hello,
We do have John's birth certificate but he was not given a middle name, unfortunately.
Yes, my nan's maiden name was Barnes. We have all this information about the family but we just hit brick walls where John is concerned and this is primarily because we do not know if he was fostered, adopted or kept in children's homes until 18. My Mum last saw her brother when he was around four years old. He may well have moved to another country, its a possibility. So finding a needle in a haystack could possibly be simpler. Thanks for your help.

I assume you have his birth cert but not seeing an entry with mother's maiden name Nicholson on Lancsbmd or freebmd.

Did he have any other names apart from John ?

If he was adopted...........and knows it, he may be on the national adoption contact register.

If he was adopted, and doesn't know, he won't find you by googling, as he won't know his mother's name

Yes Gins, that is his mother (my grandmother).
Patchem, I know the others who have him. I have sent messages to random people who have a John Nicholson in their tree who was born in the same year etc. It is like finding a needle in a haystack because we do not know if he stayed in children's homes until aged 18 or if he was adopted or fostered. He may even have been a child migrant to Australia or other country. It's all if's, buts and maybes. It would be so much simpler if he was searching for his family because I have left messages all over the place, a quick google search and he can find us. That's life, we shall plod on and keep our fingers crossed.

Hello,
I am trying to find my mother's brother, John Nicholson. He was born in July 1950 in Fulwood, Preston, Lancashire. His mother is Hazel Veronique Kathleen Nicholson. We are not sure if John was adopted or fostered or even if he stayed in the UK.
