Transformed...sorry tablet predictive text. I could get a birth certificate but not sure which Sarah barker to get..not even certain it's correct Sarah who married young pickles.
Because of no father on marriage certificate it makes it uncertain. Though I think she married again later..Will check that..when young pickles died in 1906 in burnley.
Thanks again :-)

You would need to get Sarah's birth certificate to see who her mother was.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'Grace was transformed'. In the 1861 census Abraham is with Grace and Sarah is just one year old.

There are two possibilities for a marriage for Abraham to a Grace, one in 1854 and one in 1857. Not clear which is correct. A certificate would tell you if he was a widower at the time of the marriage.

I think maybe Abraham married before Grace too..think maybe Grace was transformed..but that may not have been her maiden name . This.k, not sure why either

That Abraham first married a Mary..maybe in 1842,,,,

Hi Beverley..you say Grace and Abraham were married when Sarah was born..wonder when they did get married...maybe Grace was not his first wife .
.there are big gaps in children's ages...and I can't find a marriage for Esther or Ellis either. Difficult family to track I think. I'm having trouble getting on a few sites tonight..a todmorden one I go on isn't working either.
Thanks

Well, Grace and Abraham were married when Sarah was born.
I agree though that it's odd that he's not named on the marriage certificate.

Hi Beverley
Thanks for that.
Looks a possibility. Still wondering wether Abraham is really Sarah's dad though...very confusing

I did think they may be the family..Abraham and Hannah..but it's strange Sarah has no fathers name on her wedding certificate. Unless Sarah adopted by Abraham..maybe barker not her baptised name..cos possibly Hannah was Abrahams second wife?

Thanks for that. Yes, have spotted them, but wondered if from her marriage cert if her address which I think was cross st todmorden..if maybe her mum or parents were on there..I know barker is a common name though...
Shirley
Ps thanks for the census details..not sure if Mary suthers is a family connection or just a lodging house.

Shirley, just to say that those of us with Ancestry are having problems with the site, so hopefully someone with FMP will see this. Just in case you are wondering why no replies!

Hoping to find who the parents of the above Sarah barker were. She married in 1881 at Halifax parish to young pickles. They are on the census in 1881 at Millwood in forbidden..I have seen a wedding certificate with no fathers name on. So struggling to find her parents. Thought maybe could be Abraham and Mary or Abraham and Hannah. Thought I may find out by discovering who was living at her marriage address which I think is cross street todmorden in 1881 census. Can anyone out there help?
