It does appear to us that the spelling seems to be interchangeable.

We believe our g.grandfather George ALLOWAY was born abt.1848, son of John ALLOWAY & Elizabeth Glennister.

GRO could not provide a birth certificate copy.

John & Elizabeth ALLOWAY were married September 27th 1840, The Parish Church Cheltenham. Their families lived at 58 & 59 Duke St., Chelt.

Does anyone have archives relating to this family & perhaps could provide more information about George's birth?

Any information on John ALLOWAY's parents & any siblings?

If you know the exact marriage date, one assumes you have the cert

The fathers of both should be named.......if they knew them

If John's father isn't named, he was illegitimate
