1. My James Martin is quoted on library microfiche as having married Rebecca 10th Jun 1821 and they had following children:
William 1826, Henry 1827, James 1829, George 1831, Joseph 1835, Elizabeth 1836 and Charles 1838.
2. This is agreed by at least three other trees HOWEVER........
3. My James was born in 1800 and theirs circa 1795.
4. Additionally, the parents of my James are James Martin 1773 and Mary Henshaw 1775 BUT THEIRS are John Martin c1777 and Sarah Cutts 1775.
5. Surely it must be one heck of a coincidence for James n Rebecca plus their 7 children on more than one tree WITH TWO DIFFERENT members of their family as shown in 4 above.
Hope I haven't confused everyone as much as I've confused myself.

Rondog - your request has managed to post itself twice so you may wish to delete one so that research doesn't get duplicated.

You don't say where. Is this them in 1841? But remember that ages of those over 15 on the 1841 census are rounded down to nearest 5 or 0 so James could have been born 1797-1801 and Rebecca 1792-1796.

What proof do you have for the parents of your James?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 15 Jun 2014 00:56

Remember, too, that many online trees are copied from each other so the other 3 trees could have been copied meaning that just one person has it wrong, either you or the person that said that the parents are John & Sarah.

Which of their children is your PROVEN line?

What documentary backup do you have for the statement you make about the parents of 'your' James?

James Martin isn't exactly an unusual name.......................

Don't place too much credence in other trees.............do your OWN research

When did James die?

How old was he?

Think this could be James in 1851, with sons Henry & Joseph - if 1841 is the correct family.

1. James and his 7children were all born in Nottingham according to 1841 Census.

2. Derbyshire libraries microfiche confirm almost all of my family tree during the 18th century which again is backed up by the 1841 census.

3. James was baptised 12 May 1800 according to microfiche,
and
4. James 1773 parents were James (1742-1808) & Ann Wood (1747-1813) according to microfiche and baptism docs.

5. James died AMJ 1885 in Bakewell.

I have now passed my research results to all three of the "similar" trees and one has already said he believes my suggestion that his James b c1796 never married Rebecca Brogall because he was listed as having a wife of a different name in one of the census.

My thanks to Margee, Susan, Chris Ho, Reggie and Flip. I just hope I've answered any/all of your questions and that they confirm the facts you have raised.
If there are any doubts I originally had, most of them have now dissappeared.

This msg is for Flip.
This James born 1799 is the on the other 3 trees, not mine.
Thanks again.
