Hi everyone,
I'm looking for help , I just can't get any further, been trying for ever it seems.
Margaret jones was born in Ayrshire, She married Richard Turner in 1864 , on the marriage certificate it says her father was Rowland Jones , I know about her life after she got married but can't find anything out about here early life, She married in Salford Lancashire, so obviously left Ayrshire at some point , Has anyone got any clues to how I go about finding this info out please.

yes that's the right marriage, Margaret was my great grandmother, she died in 1912. My mum was born in 1916 so has no recollection of her at all. Ive been trying to find info on Margarets early life for about 4 years now.

Yes that's her ,
All the info is there from when she married and later gave birth to her children, but nothing before her marriage. she went on to have another son George who was my mums father

I'm wondering if she was born with a different surname, maybe illegitimate and her mother later married (or not) Mr. Jones.

Well that was something I hadn't given any thought to . It would maybe account for why there doesn't seem to be any trace of her. That means that I would l probably never find out about her earlier life if that was the case. I was looking for Rowland Jones (her Father) and was thinking if she had been born in Ayrshire that he would be Scottish as well, but also there was no trace of him.

I can't see a Rowland Jones either.
It doesn't sound a very Scottish name to me (just to make things even more complicated, she could have even made up the name Rowland or got it from another family member ).
