Hi Anita,

This looks to be Emmeline in 1891 census

Name: Emmaline Dunk
Event Type: Census
Event Date: 1891
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Relationship to Head of Household: Servant
Birthplace: Milton, Kent
Schedule Type: Household
Registration District: Dartford
Sub-District: Dartford
Ecclesiastical Parish: Holy Trinity
Parish: Dartford
County: Kent

BUT although she is in the ecclesiastical parish of Holy Trinity there does not seem to be a marriage for her and James in these church records.

Children of James Henry & Emmeline WHITE baptised there were: (apart from Annie already given)

22nd April1896 James Henry, Abode, 11 Overy Street, father's occ: Brewer's Drayman

20th June 1897 Queenie Blanche, Abode, 11 Overy Street, father's occ: Labourer

9th August 1899 William John, Abode 11 Nelsons Place, Overy Street, father's occ: Labourer

19th September 1900 Frederick Harold, Abode, 12 Vauxhall Place, father's occ: Labourer

31st December 1902 Ivy May, abode, 12 Vauxhall Place, father's occ: Labourer

23rd March 1904 Jack, abode, 12 Vauxhall Place, father's occ: Labourer

7th October 1908 Dorothy Mabel abode, 12 Vauxhall Place, father's occ: Labourer

James Henry died aged 2 months and was buried on 6th June 1896

William John died aged 3 weeks and was buried on 21st August 1899

Ivy May died aged 2 months and was buried on 13th February 1903

There was a burial for a Daisy White aged 8 days on 24th January 1894 which could be the other child (9 children born, 4 having died, according to Gins re the 1911 census).

Death reg for Emmeline White:

Deaths Jun 1953
Dartford 5b 379
Emmeline White
Aged 85

I suspect that this is James White in the 1871 census

James White in household of James White, "England and Wales Census, 1871"
Name: James White
Event Type: Census
Event Date: 1871

Self James White M 25 Hawley, Kent
Wife Mary White F 21 Dartford, Kent
Daughter Jane White F 5 Dartford, Kent
Son James White M 2 Dartford, Kent
Daughter Louisa White F 1 Hawley, Kent

He was baptised in Wilmington in 1871 (12th Nov same day as brother John, born in 1871)

SAME FAMILY IN 1881 CENSUS:

James White, "England and Wales Census, 1881"
Name: James White
Age (Original): 39
Gender: Male
Birth Year: 1842
Birthplace: Wilmington, Kent, England
Relationship to Head of Household: Head

Disability:
Record Type: Household
GS Film number: 1341205

but can't be sure so it might be worth buying the marriage certificate for James Henry White and Emmeline Dunk to confirm James Henry's father.

Chris

Just in case it's relevant, that was her brother & sister witnessing the marriage. They are on the 1911 census together - and although James is not listed with second name, he signed the form James Henry. Her mother was Emmaline.

Thanks everyone for the details on Samuel R V Scott, not whom I am looking for then.

Our Raymond married May Smoker in 1953 in Dartford. Keith, my son in law has spoken to his dad but he doesn't know who his grandfather was, or of any uncles/aunts on his fathers side. Although we've got him writing down everything he can remember.

Still appreciate any help, as I don't want to order lots of birth certificates as they are quite expensive, I'd rather order the correct one!
