Many thanks for your input, but am still at a loss, was hoping that the lookup on the 1891 and 1901 census would give me the info. l have Ethel V GARDINER married to John W GARDNER in Carlisle Dec 1915, now Ethel had a elder brother John William GARDINER b 1890/1891 but he died aged 3 so that is what l have, but thank you if you do come up with info l would be grateful - Fregar
