On my Ancestry tree I have Henry as a 'marry in' as the groom of Annie Pickering Banner.

For the record, Annie's birth

Name: Annie Pickering Banner
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1886
Registration district: West Ham
Inferred County: Essex
Volume: 4a
Page: 4

Marriage

Name: Annie P Banner
Spouse Surname: Harrison
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1915
Registration district: West Ham
Inferred County: Essex
Volume Number: 4a
Page Number: 303
Records on Page:
Name
Annie P Banner
>>>>>>>>Henry Harrison

Death
Name: Annie P Harrison
Birth Date: abt 1886
Date of Registration: Dec 1956
Age at Death: 70
Registration district: Southend on Sea
Inferred County: Essex
Volume: 4a
Page: 703

We are aware of 2 children & don't need any assistance with Annie or them.

A grt grandchild has made contact asking for assistance with Henry. They have been told that

- he was born on 31 May, year unknown
- he died in Ilford, Essex in 1947.
- he mIght have been from Snodland, Kent
- Harrison might not have been his 'real' name.

I've suggested that this might be his death

Name: Henry Harrison
Birth Date: abt 1873
Date of Registration: Mar 1947
Age at Death: 74
Registration district: West Ham
Inferred County: Essex
Volume: 5a
Page: 834

But other than the marriage, I can't find any earlier records. I've already suggested that they purchase the MC to see what that says.

Any suggestions please? Thank you

Agree that the best bet is to purchase the marriage cert .this will give his age at marriage and a father ,if known

Thanks Shirley - we'll have to see if they agree with our suggestion

Why does your gt-grandchild think that he might have been born in Snodland, DetEcTive?
Is it just family legend?

And why does he/she think Harrison might not be his real name?

This didn't come from me, but from his direct descendent.

Snodland was a centre for the Cement Industry - we did find that many of the Medway ancestors moved to the West Ham reg area, even if they no longer worked in Cement. So there is a familial connection with Snodland in general.

No idea why they think that Harrison wasn't his true name - this came from the contact's mother.
