Hi Chris
No I don't have the cert. I will send for it shortly.
As for the papaer saying his father was John. All I can think of was the person was getting confused with George Gray senior, as his father was John. George Grey senior also had a lot to do with the church although I do not think he became a missioner/ preacher.
Thanks again

Thanks for your Help Chris
I think that must have been the date he went out on. It arrived on 9th June. In his obituary it said it was a sixteen week journey which would bring it back its departure back to February.
That newspaper article you found said Friday 4th Feb was the eve of his going to Australia. So it seems to more or less fit.
Thanks again
PS I love that Lincstothepast site. It has been very useful.

Thank you so much Chris.
I'm not sure about the Passenger list above, I will have to look into that. The District intelligence part is definitely my George. So thank you very much for that information.
You have been a great help.
Today I have found a picture of him which I never dream't of so I am really happy.
All the best

If he did sail in 1852 as I first thought then he must have returned to England as I have him working in Howden and Selby Lincs in 1854.
He is first mentioned as being in Campbellfield Australia in 1858.

Hi
I have just checked my records and found I must have the wrong date for George leaving England for Australia.
Please can someone see if they can find him on the emigration list for 1858/59. He would probably have sailed from Liverpool.
In Sept 1858 he was still in England
Thank you for your help

I know I have asked this before many years ago but I seem to have lost the information.
Please can someone look George up on the 1841/51 census. I know he was living in Lincolnshire. His parents were George and Ann Gray, nee Hollingsworth.
He was baptised in Winterton on 13/03/1831
He left the country for Australia in 1852. He was a Primitive Methodist Minister.
Thank you for helping me.
