Please cou;d anyone find Isabella Sullivan's death , she was born c 1856 Inverness .

Ist husband Doanld MacDonald
2nd husband John Sullivan , he died in 1892 .

Maiden name Cameron . Parents Thomas Cameron and Isabella Fraser .

She had a son after death of John , William Malcolm Sullivan b1895 d 1965

Any information much appreciated .

Have you found her in the censuses of 1901 and 1911?

Hi , thanks for replies . Have looked at census and on Scotland's People and to no avail .Tried all her names too .

Tried all places on SP for deaths .

Looked for remarriage too and got nothing.
Looked on every possible census on ancestry site too .

Willam last child doesn't appear on any 1901 or 1911 census either .

When and where did Isabella marry, and did she have any other children apart from William?
Was William also born in Inverness?

If you haven't found her on any census records, then what proof do you have of the info you have given?

Isabella's 1st marriage was 20/06/1878 to Donald MacDonald in Inverness
2nd marriage was 18/10/1889 to John Sullivan in Inverness .

She had previous children to Donald .... Andrew MacDonald b Inveness c 1879
John Wilson MacDonald bc 1880 Inverness , Janet Fraser MacDonald bc 1883 and Annie MacDonald bc 1885 Inverness .

They all appear on the 1891 census and none appear on any 1901 census apart from Andrew and his family on the England 1911 census in Durham .

Willam Malcolm Sullivan/Cameron b 1895 Inverness and died in 1965 in Edinburgh , Searched for marriage on SP but none . Have sent for his death cert to see who was the informant .

Wow thanks everyone for all the information .

I have now found Isabella on the 1901 Scotland Census .
Transcribed as McDonald ....MacDonald , and so she was using 1st married name .

Also at the address at which she died 13 years later . Mystery why she went back to that surname .

William was recorded as Willie and was transcribed as McDonald and not Sullivan.

It could be she was out when the enumerator called - if one of the older children gave the details they would have given their last name of MacDonald, and maybe forgot to mention their mother was Sullivan? Just a thought, what name was her death registered in?

Hi , her name was registered as McDonald , wife of Donald McDonald ( MacDonald ) Grocer and at the address of the 1901 census .

Her son Andrew registered her death and that ties in with where his address was .

Yes very strange they recorded her death under the name MacDonald, maybe she divorced Mr Sullivan - or the children didn't like him - but you say the youngest, William went by the Sullivan name even though the "father" died 3 years before his birth. Nowt so strange as our ancestors ;-)
