Wow thankyou all ever so much everyone for all the info!!

Very sorry its taken me so long to reply - unfortunately I have a very sick elderly dad so have not been near a computer until now.

I believe John Grimes was in the forces and Im told was in the army in 26 Field Regiment Royal Artillery in 1967

I shall digest all the info now and type it up. My cousin is actually trying to trace the Grimes daughters but we seem to have drawn a blank and believe they may have emigrated.
Ive searched for marriages and of the 2 possibles for Maureen Ive been able to discount them and I think I found one for Geraldine (to a John Snow) but then the trail goes cold.

Once again thankyou all very much for the info and taking the time to reply.
Regards from a very cold and wet Yorkshire England!

Cassie :-D

What Shirley said makes sense, as on the same page as the Grimes females on the outgoing record, there seemed to be other families headed by women.

I did wonder if John were in the forces, but it was getting late (or early) and wasn't sure how to check that out.

Well done Gins for finding them on that Incoming passenger list.

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it

If John was going out as Forces then his departure won't be listed as Forces movements were usually kept secret

His family would travel separately

Our ex SIL was army and he always travelledf with his army regiment .usually by air, our daughter travelled with other army families by sea after him

On the image it just lists Moira and her two daughters, describes Moira as a housewife, gives exact birthdates for all 3 (if you want me to pm the dates let me know, I won't post them here as they may still be living)

U K Address for all 3 given as 44 Stainton Grove Barnard Castle.
Country of intended future permanent residence - Hong Kong.

No sign of John with them in the listing.

I can't identify a separate journey for him either .

EDIT: Have pmed you the image of the relevant page on the passenger list

Hi
Im trying to find out if a particular chap travelled with his family to Hong Kong in 1955 (Ship Empire Orwell) from Southampton

I do not have access to the Travel info but have been told is that
John J GRIMES travelled on that ship with his wife Moira and daughters Maureen Angela and Geraldine Anne.

I can see (for free) that Moira, Maureen and Geradline travelled but I can not see a reference to John - am I missing something?

Could anyone possibly check and see if there is any reference to John?

Many thanks
Cassie

ps I will be leaving my computer now for a few hours so please do not think I am ignoring any replies I will respond as soon as I get back Thanks :-) :-)
