There are indexes to various records on NASA (National Archives South Africa). Have no idea how you go about getting copies of the actual records. |

Try clicking on "Search" at the top right of this page. Then "Search All Member Trees". Input your ancestor details and if anyone else is searching for them it will show up as a match. You can then try contacting the person in whose tree they are. Unfortunately, don't always expect a reply, there are many reasons why you might not get one. |

Please can anyone help, I am researching William and Ellen Burgess who emigrated to SA from Buckinghamshire and Middlesex England between 1901 and 1911. I think they went firstly to Wynberg and later lived near Table top mountain. They took with them 4 daughters Eliza, Mary Ann, Elizabeth May (Lizzie) and Rose Annie. I also believe that William's brother James Burgess and family emigrated to SA at a similar time as James's son also called James (William) Burgess died in Durban in 1942 leaving a wife Ada Ellen Lamb and son Samuel E Burgess. I wonder if William or any of these other people may mean anything to you. I'm finding it so hard to make any headway on my SA family. |
