Is it possible to trace a government department employee, as far back as 1943/44, in a specific area ?
The reason I ask is because I am trying to trace my birth father's name, but the name I have been given does not exist as far as I can ascertain. :-S
Any help would be gratefully received.

Sorry Seajayf, I think the answer to that would be no, highly unlikely they'd still be alive.

You may have been given an incorrect version of the name, they may not have been permanently resident in this country, could be a number of reasons.

I take it he's not named on your birth certificate?

sorry Marie Celeste for not replying before - no there is no name on the Cert.

Well, it depends if you feel comfortable with posting the name that you were told so that the helpers on here can check out the possibilities.

Not really sure. If anything found, I wouldn't want to stir it up with the family.

Not sure what could be found without more details, but in the meantime I'm going to send you a private message regarding site security - ie clicking on your board name etc.

You are in another members tree on here, have you tried contacting that member?

If you've been given a false name, how do you think that you will be able to trace the man?

If the name is false, his supposed occupation could be also.................

Hi Seajayf,

I can appreciate that you may not wish to post the name on this public site but IF you would feel comfortable sending it to me by private message I can certainly see if there is anything I can find out.

If the name is a false one then there is no hope really but if it is perhaps an unusual one that has been misspelt then there may be a chance.

'IF' you would like to do this just click on my name on my post and send me a personal message which will not be seen on the board.

I will not be offended if you choose not to do so.
