Do you have their marriage cert for their marital status ? Maybe Samuel was a widower so any census may show children born before they married which confuse things

Esther Nuttall 1820 married Samuel Tongue on 07/12/1853 at St John the Evangelist, Farnworth with Kearsley, Lancashire, England. I have looked at several census but there appears to be quite a lot people with the same name in the same area making it tricky to find the correct entry for their children...Esther's father was James Nuttall a Parish Clerk.

If anyone feels they are able to assist would be appreciated.

The library is observing a period of silence in memory of the 96 who lost their lives at hillsborough so there may be a delay in being able to answer questions or give further details. Many thanks
