Thank you for your follow up re. Alice and Rosa Goldsmith. I am wondering if in fact they were actually cousins rather than sisters (as my mother-in-law thought). |

I think as Potty says your best bet is to get a copy of the Marriage Certificate for Alice as this will give info re her father and is really, at the moment, the only piece of concrete evidence that you have. |

The family is on the 1911 (except for Jane) - no Rosa |

Alice's marriage record - the cert will give you her age (although it may just say of full age, ie over 21) and her father's name and occupation: |

So this would be Alice's marriage and note she has other first names |

I am sorry my information is so sketchy but my mother-in-law lives in a nursing home and told me her mother was Alice Goldsmith who married Geoffrey John Cotton. Alice had a sister Rosa but couldn't remember who she married. She said they came from Suffolk : believed Halesworth. |

I am trying to find the wife of William Goldsmith 1824-1905 and information upon the daughter Rosa 1894 - 1953 and who she married. Rosa also had a sister called Alice 1898-1958 who is the Great Grandmother to my husband. This family came from Halesworth Suffolk. |
