Thanks Detective, I also came to a similar conclusion.

Will probably give the local library a call anyway but thank you!

Sorry - nothing showing. Someone else may be more successful

You could either try searching yourself on the main site
http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/

or enquire at the local archive to see if they will look at contemporary local papers - they may make a charge.

If it wasn't 'newsworthy' then it was probably a genuine 'died in her sleep' age-related type of death.

Detective, just wondering could you search under the Worcester and Cheshire newspapers also?

Thank you

Thanks Detective ... I have always followed those instructions and bizarrely there is always a page that turns up saying 'no results' etc.

No idea why!

Can't see anything in the BNA on this site.

Key word used 'Brett'
Year range 1884-1885
Selecting Staffordshire papers only
..............

As an aside, to find threads you have added to or started.......Look to the left under 'Tools'. Select 'My Threads'

On the following page there is a paragraph of writing at the top

*You are looking at all threads that you have either started or contributed to. If you want to just see threads you have started, click My Threads - Started. If you want to just see only threads you have contributed to but not started, click My Threads - Contributed To.*

The words 'My Threads - Started' then gives a link to all the threads you've originated. Mind you, if you've started pages worth, you might be some time!!

Hi there,

I have ordered this death certificate:

28 December 1884, Bradley, Sedley, U.S.D. (Stafford)
Elizabeth Brett
Female
80 Years
Widow of Thomas Brett, Blacksmith
Natural Causes

Certificate received from W.H. Phillips, Coroner for Staffordshire, Inquest held 31st December 1884

Registered 1st January 1885

Can anyone spot a write up of the inquest in one of the local newspapers?

With this, I don't need any census information etc as already have this on another thread but my search facility doesn't work. So please don't repost etc.

Thank you in anticipation,

Peter
