Birth certificates did not exist before the inception of the GRO - in July 1837.

If she married Bean afterJuly 1837, there will be a cert - if she knew her father, he will be named on it

Oh dear :-(

How can I trace back then. Are parents always shown on baptism records?

Born before 1837 there won't be a birth certificate.

Best you can hope for is a baptism record

I want to order a birth certificate for Elizabeth Conway but I am having problems, can anyone help?

On the 1851 census it shows her age as 38 - (she was married and had the surname Bean, which I know is correct). I know she married James Bean.

I have searched 10 years either side of 1813 for a birth entry - no luck. I found an Elizabeth Ann Conway baptised in 1807 in Middlesex, but not sure if its correct as the census, which I know is correct because of the family members, so she would have been 44 not 38. Also have the problem that I found two marriage entries - Elizabeth Ann Conway and Elizabeth Anne Conway, with the names of four possible husbands on each entry, so don't know which one is correct!

The 1881 Census says she was born in Woolwich Kent and was 67 by then, but cant find an entry for her birth in Woolwich around 1813 either! :-S

Can anyone give me some advice as hope to not order the wrong certificate. I have thought about ordering the marriage certificate but don't know if it will give me much more information than I already have. Thanks.
