Age and location of your relative might help Pauline!
Was she the one born 1851 Lincs?
The best thing would be to look for the birth etc. of the other one, to see if you can find her and so ascertain if she is another person.
Where did you get your info?

Between 1838 and 1903 there are 8 births for the name Lydia Chatterton in England on Findmypast (probably more as the 1851 birth isn't listed).

There are some of the cookbooks for sale on Amazon. You may have to buy a copy to see if it gives any information about the author - then you can see if it matches with the Lydia you have in your family tree.

Looks like you didn't have much luck last time around Pauline

It's surprising that there's no info to be found on someone who published quite a number of books over a period of time. Wonder if it was a pseudonym? Or it could be a married name.

If there is no biographical detail in the book in your possession, it may be that there's none in any of them.
Did she marry? If she did, her occupation will be recorded on the cert. If she didn't, it will be on her death cert.

If you have one of her books who was the Publisher, or the illustrator, if there was one mentioned?

You could try following those lines.

Lydia (the author) seems to have been contributing to a magazine in 1916 - "The Lady's World":

Thankyou all. Yes this is the family. John was my grandfather. (bn 1884). I will keep trying to find the antecedents of the cookery book writer , in the hope that it will provide some clues.

So you knew already that the author was not your relative. Is that correct?
Are you just hoping for a link?

I do not know whether she was an ancestor, that is what I am trying to find out. I wish Odhams had a retrospective web site but I have not had any luck trying to find them. thank you if you find anything relative to my query. I will keep looking,
