Mike, I do have the family on several censuses, I was trying to see if the marriage is the correct one. George was born in Yardley, and I believe I have him with father Joseph in 1851, so it does look promising.

I think the occupation has been written down wrongly, and should be gun barrel filer!

Yes, that's the one I had my eye on Mike. It's a bit tricky.
One clue is that Elizabeth was born in Devon, as you can see. There is an Elizabeth Wilcox born Devon (Plymouth though!) living B'ham 1861, same parish as a George Wilson born Yardley.
I am being very naughty I know as I should just get birth cert for son Eugene!

George Edward and Joseph are butchers on the marriage certificate....do you have/want the image?

Thanks Judith.
I have a few doubts now, in that George has put 'butcher' on his marriage cert.
This must be the George in the 1851 which Mike has put above. The 1861 census I have tentatively attributed to him has him as a labourer, and by 1871 he is a gun filer. It seems unlikely he would revert to butcher in between doesn't it! But I can't find George Wilson butcher anywhere.
Birth cert it is.
If only Eugene had been baptised in Birmingham, but there seems to be no sign.
Sigh.
Thanks Mikl & Jude for your efforts.

George E Wilson 54 Where born: Solihull, Warwickshire, England
Elizabeth Wilson 47 Where born: Exeter, Devon, England
George Wilson 17
Frank Wilson 12
Ethel Wilson 8

My great-grandmother is Elizabeth, shown 1881. On her marriage cert in 1890, she has father George Edwrad Wilson stone mason, which is the occupation shown for him 1891.

They were living at the same address 1881 and 1891, so although the occupation is quite a leap, it must be the same family - they also have son Frank (not very common) and wife Elizabeth Ann was born Devon.

Is that making any sense at all?

I am off out shortly, so if anyone is kind enough to reply, please excuse me if I don't get back till tomorrow.
