Unknown,

For my curiosity, could you confirm which is the correct marriage that you have found?

Thank-you

If Doris Irene was born in England or Wales she will only show as Doris I on free bmd, and there are a lot of possible births in the Sep and Dec quarters.

ArgyllGran Report 8 Mar 2014 14:50

But no marriages showing on RootsIreland for either Walter Skeggs or Doris McIntyre/MacIntyre.

And no Walter Skeggs marriages on ScotlandsPeople, anywhere in Scotland.

The poster's mother was also named Doris................and the 'marriages' to her - in 1952 and 1956 - were both under her maiden name, so it would seem that one of them may not have been free to marry legally in 1952. As the woman used her maiden name, it must have been the man..................

Both marriages were in Yorkshire, where their three offspring were born

You might learn something by purchasing copy marriage certs..............

Did your father serve during WW2?

Could he have married somewhere other than England/Wales?

Have you contacted anyone who has your father in their tree on here, to see if they are from any possible first marriage of his?

Added:
You appear to have Walter Henry Skeggs, 1904, in your tree on here but not Walter, 1916?

patchem

patchem Report 8 Mar 2014 08:10

This looks like the only possible next marriage for her if she was Doris I:

Doris I Skeggs
Spouse Surname: Timmons
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1972
Registration district: Islington
Inferred County: Middlesex
Volume Number: 5c
Page Number: 1427

patchem

patchem Report 8 Mar 2014 07:55

There is this possible subsequent marriage for her, with extra initials, but not Doris Irene:

Marriages Jun 1949
Skeggs Doris L M Matthews Aldershot 6b 123

Added:
She was also Doris Russell, will leave for information.

I am trying to locate my fathers first marriage, I can only find his marriage to my mother twice 1952 and 1957 however know this was his second marriage. As far as i am aware, his first wife was called Doris Irene and i would guess his marriage first time would have been around late 1930's to early 1940's.

Any help or advice much appreciated.
