Just wondered if anybody knows anything about the above lady other than the bit of info I've got below.

She had a son called Melvin and a daughter Pearl - Pearl married ? Close, and Melvin married Chereida ? Melvin lived at Wath upon Dearne and Pearl I think lives Lincolnshire way, Cleethorpes or Hull rings a bell. All 3, mum, son and daughter were I'm led to believe born in the Rotherham area. A rough guess for Melvin would be 1935 onwards, not sure about pearl but think she's abit younger than him. Trying to tie them into my tree but not having much luck with the little info I have. My Maw's originate from Lincolnshire. Thanks for reading this :-S

And Living relatives board is private????? that's a new one on me

Not sure where you got your info from but from my searches it's more likely that Margaret Romley Maw and Melwyn not Melvin were siblings not mother and son

dad was William and mother Sarah MMN Hubbard

Or did she name a son after her brother?

Only one entry for a Pearl Close, (age noted as 53-57) but last electoral role is 2002, but you never know?

If thats him Catherine has posted then Age guide of 40-44 makes him born 1970's ish quite a bit out from 1935 onwards

Is it possible that Melvin W.Maw is Melvin's son as the relationships of the 'others in household' is not shown?

Could also be an error as:-

First name: Melvin W Last name: Maw Age guide: 51-55 Year: 2006 - 2009

so completely differant?

The Melwyn i listed in my post was born 1941 in rotherham district so should be in his 70's at that time but he did have the middle initial "W"

I know the thread is ticked as answered but just to let members no that Margaret has sent me a PM confirming Margaret and Melvin were brother and sister MMN was Hubbard and she did marry a Walker

Sorry evrybody - I got my fact mixed up - Margaret Romley Maw and Melvin W Maw were brother and sister and not son and mother as I first thought. Pearl is daughter to Margaret Romley Maw so is therefore neice to Melvin.
Melvin's name is def Melvin and NOT Melwyn as somebody said.
Melvin and Margarets mum was Sarah Jane Hubbard and dad William Maw, I've looked on free bmd and think the match sept qt 1933 is their marriage, that would make it 7 years after getting married when Melvin was born.
I also looked for Williams dad and came up with William Maw married to ? Mann but I'm not sure on this one for definite that marriage was June qt 1912
I'm still following the lead that these Maw's came from Rotherham, but William No.2's wife ? Mann came from Pontefract
My Maw's originate from Haxey, Lincs and then later from Barnsley but a couple of years ago Melvins neice contacted me and asked if I was related to Margaret Romley Maw - at the time I was busy doing my own line and hadn't come across any links so said I didn't think so, then Melvins wife also contacted me and we've been in contact every since, I'm very interested to try and find a link to tie this story together, and would be interested to see if any siblings of any of the Williams are actually relatives of mine as well

It was me who said his name was Melwyn and not Melvin,

The reason is that he is listed on the birth index as Melwyn W

Its possible he or his parents called him Melvin but as far as the birth index is concerned his name is spelt Melwyn. His birth cetificate should confirm this.

As i said i will not post the details of the birth for obvious reasons but you can see for yourself on freebmds,
And yes i did check the index image for a mistranscription
