DNA testing is not that specific,

For you to know of a bristol birth in 1933 with a specific surname you must have some info from some where that led you to think that,

How did you arrive at that conclusion?

There are no Bowling births listed from 1930 upto 1936 in the Bristol area on Freebmd's

Welcome to GR, Jan.

With a common name like Davis it's going to be almost impossible to trace him if that is all the information you have. He and other people he served with born in the same year are in their 80's now. Some may have died.

Have you thought of following the Bowling line back and finding more details of him that way? Are you sure your contact was born in Bristol? There are no 1933 Bowling births in that area.

Why do you think that Davis and Bowling are linked?

Have you looked for BMD info to support the idea?

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Presumably, you have forename info for the person who moved to the US..............follow it through.

How did anyone manage to obtain DNA from someone who is deceased?

Hi,
I am looking for any ancestors connected to a possible Sergeant Davis who served in S. Korea in 1952 in the Busan (Pusan) area. I realize there could be many and I'm sorry I have no more information to provide. I have DNA information on myself that links me to a relative (2nd or 3rd cousin) born in Bristol in l933 with the family name of Bowling. Unfortunately, that person moved to the US and is no longer living.
Thanks,
Jan
