Have you checked your mother's actual birth cert? If no father is mentioned, then her parents were probably not married at the time of her birth.

Thanks for all the responses. I have no information on dates or anything. My Grandmother was Lucy Sarah Mariah Head b 1906
I think they were married in Islington and it would have been early 1920s. His name was actually on their marriage document as spouse but nothing else to help me trace his side of the family
I am a long term user but don't get on very often at all and am still learning to drive this bus. So much so that I don't even know what PM means( is that sad?)

I am afraid that you are going to have to buy their marriage certificate in order to determine whether I have found the correct Patrick.

The marriage certificate will give you the names and occupations of both fathers, and the addresses where Patrick and Lucy were living.

Address in 1932 - 3 Godson Street, Pentonville. Also at same address were Charles Thomas, Margaret & Patrick Williams. (Along with other names) maybe Charles Thomas *& Margaret could help - they could be the parents from 1911 census.

They were at 3 Godson St from 1929-1934. In 1947 they were at 65 Pentonville Road, with Margaret Lucy/Richard Arthur Williams - possible children?

To which 'marriage document' are you referring?

As your info is not specific, one assumes you mean the GRO index.....................

Obtain a copy of the marriage cert, and you will then have some facts on which to base further searches

Margaret Lucy and Richard Arthur are indeed the couple's children - born in the mid 1920's, mms Head.

Ancestry suggests this is Patrick's death, which matches with the trees mentioned above by SylviainCanada - though the tree owners may just have accepted Ancestry's suggestion as gospel , without checking. Best to buy the death cert.:
