There's more than one Ada Smith death in Sussex in 1965, though only one Ada Jane Smith. None actually in Uckfield.

The Ada J Smith who died in 1965 was born c1890 and if this is the one who is the person above then she was about 41 when she married.

Do you know if Ada and her husband had children? if they didn't and her husband died before her perhaps the Arthur Ernest Smith mentioned above was a relative of her late husband

I don't see any Smith / Bassett births 1931-60, on FreeBMD, at least not in Sussex.
