Find Ancestors

Many thanks to everybody who has replied and taken the time to look things up. I have looked at everything suggested. There is a tale in the family that my ancestors walked from Scotland and then settled in Kent

Somewhere in my files is a copy of a letter where a 3x g Uncle recorded that he remembered a Scottish accent. I may have to widen the search to take that into account.

Civil registration didn't start until Jul 1837 so there will not be a marriage cert...even if there was one it would have probably said 'full age'

1841 is rounded down to nearest 5 years, so not much help either, and no possible parents living with the young family.

Just for ref, as I'm sure you'll already know;

1851, 61, 71, 91 censuses all say c1813; 1881 says c1814; 1901 says c.1810, but he's in the workhouse by then, and they probably weren't' too particular about their inmates' DOB's - or maybe he was too old to tell them accurately.

I am trying to find a birth date for Thomas Bartlett Sinclair. Birth date shown as 1812 or 1814 registered in Eastry Kent. I have had no luck as yet with the parish records. He is my 4x G Grandfather.
