I have had wonderful help from the Community in tracing a half cousin with whom I am now in touch. I am now trying to trace the resting place of my uncle's widow. He was William Wilson who died on the M V King Malcolm which was hit by a U-boat on the 31 October 1941. He was 38 years old. I have traced the memorial in London re this. I know he was married to 'Carrie of York' but can find no trace of their marriage or of her subsequent death. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please? |

i don't think there would be any resting place for William Wilson other than at the bottom of the sea. The ship sank within 3 minutes of being hit by the torpedo. |

Was "your" William Wilson born in Scotland? There is this family in the 1911 census:- |

On the Commonwealth War Graves record for William's death there is no middle initial given. |

I have the feeling that the marriage to Carrie Steele will be the one. She is also living in Sculcoates in the 1911 census:- |

Wow! I just popped outside to hang out another line of washing and hey! presto you wonderful folk seem to have unearthed so much that I have omitted to find. I was concentrating on York - as that was mentioned in the WW11 records. No idea Carrie had married again (no wonder the subject did not crop up at all in my younger days!) The Wilson family did return from Scotland (having moved there from Hunmanby, North Yorks and lived in Hull. Again, many many thanks to all you expert researchers. I will dig further and obtain marriage certificates etc. Bless you all. :-) |

This looks like that death, so the Carrie Wilson marriage I found in 1942 probably isn't her:- |
