No help, but still . . . .

But more usefully, here they say there are transcribed parish registers from 1571:

A tree on Ancestry says Edward was born 1747 Slimbridge - no provenance shown.

"Last Squire of Huntley" is a bit of a puzzle, as there were clearly Huntleys at Boxwell Court long after Susannah's uncle, whoever he was.

Perhaps it was just the title of Squire which came to an end? Maybe all those vicars didn't count as squires?
Or maybe the person who wrote the funeral notice had his facts wrong.

In that genealogy posted above, I don't see an Edward who was a brother of the first in line around the right time.

Thank you for the information ,I had not seen the first of those ArgyllGran. It would seem then I am descended from the Huntleys of Boxwell court rather than Huntley Manor so I just have to find the connection. Edward Huntley ancestors would be the ones so I have to find his parents. The only definition of Squire I know is one who aided knights but is there another one.Thankyou Chris I will lokk at those sites

WoodfortheTrees Report 19 Feb 2014 09:43

I was reading funeral notice for my G-grandmother (Hester Rosehanna Ball nee Allen 1851-1934) and it stated that her Grandmother Susannah Huntley born 1790 in Slimbridge Gloucestershire was the niece of the last Squire of Huntley. I have Susanna's parents as Edward and Mary nee Hayes. The Manor in Huntley seems to have been owned by a different family but Boxwell Court in the area I am researching was owned by the Huntley family but as yet I can find no connection and I was hoping the very able people on here might be able to help.Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any help you are able to give
