looking for birth certificate for my uncle born 1882 in boitsford Belgium,manage to get my aunty's birth certificate from Belgium but they can not find my uncle.english censurs says he was born in Belgium.has anyone any suggestions.

Was he British? Or Belgian?

Was your 'aunty' his sister? Or his wife?

On which census have you traced him?

Belguim, like most European countries does not have a central registration point as we do here in the UK.

So unless you know which region/town he is from you will not have much luck.

However, if you can find his death and it is registered in the UK, you might be lucky on ordering it that his place of birth is mentioned on there.

Christine, you say he was born in 'boitsford' - having googled it, it looks like it might be Boitsfort, which now seems to be a suburb of Brussels.

Bit of a long shot, but if you are really determined you might try contacting the City Hall:
