	Thank you Mary. Before you go to the trouble of looking anything else up, I need to point out that it's actually the Powells I am looking at. I have no idea if this George Joseph Powell is connected or not, but I have had a go at my gg grandfather William so often I am clutching at straws now! I found the baptism of George's son Horace (this is a family name for the Powells, hence I checked it out), and his father George was a commercial traveller - same occ as my gg grandfather. So I was kind of hoping against the odds that something might connect them together. I fear this is one of many wild goose chases! :-D :-D :-D

	Mary Ann Hannah Cobb born Oct 1850 to William and Mary Ann Cobb is with George J Powell in 1881. Mary Ann H Powell born 1850 died 1933 Wandsworth V1d P 531. Maryb.

	Thanks very much for your responses Dea & Glitterbaby - that explains it! I just assumed they would be on Ancestry. Maureen, thanks very much - was hoping that was the case!
