According to Ancestry tree parents Emily Hill 1892-1967 and Herbert Stretton 1889-1953.

Herberts parents Harriett 1864-1947 and Joseph 1854-1921.

Harriet died 1947 probate £98 to Herbert a Licensee.

The tree also has a photo of Herberts shop in Heath Hayes.

Josiah had sister Emily May 1911 died 1925.

Hello Roger, instead of assuming a birth for Josiah "early 1900s" have you tried looking for his birth on FreeBMD? He could be either one of these:

(Having said that, if Herbert was born c1889 it's much more likely to be the 1912 birth)

I am trying to find out about theparents and siblings of Josiah stretton born early 1900s he married a lilian plumb I belive his father may have been called Herbert and kept the Talbot public house in heath hayes staffs cheers roger
