Google Australian BMD's - and buy a copy of his birth certt

As for where they worked over 65 years ago - if they married during the time in question, their occupations will be on their marriage cert......but that's probably as much as you'll be able to find out

Didn't you discuss such things with them?

Can anyone help please I would like to know where my father-in-law was born
ANTHONY SPURWY-SMITH b 29/03/1926 Tasmania. Also where he worked in 1947-1948 in Tasmania if possible. Also Where Jean Amy Gamble worked in 1947-1948 in Tasmania. They are both dead and the subject has just come up. Any help appreciated
