Find Ancestors

I couldnt find him on 1901 census Reggie, but if he is the same one as 1911 census it says hes a seaman, so maybe he was away at the time.

The only thing I know for sure is that his date of birth was 20/10/1881 and born in Galasheils Selkirkshire

Reggie, his father died in 1900 and his mother was living with a man John Mather and had 3 children to him, it was the first time i saw BC with info that was claiming her husband was NOT the father.

Can you answer the question about where Alexander was in 1901.......and also about his parents in 1911

And saying they were married doesn't mean that they were..............

Andrew, that Wilhelmina sounds right, the 1 I found was born 1882 so would have been 29, on census shes 32, thanks very much.

There is a Wilhelmina on 1891 and 1901 but shes not on 1911, ive checked Free BMD and cant see a marriage, can anyone suggest where I go from here to try and find a marriage for them.

The woman on 1911 census was born no later than 1879

The one posted above by Andrew is a better match for age............

Found her on SP, surname is Dean, born 1882, will look again for a marriage

Thanks, I will try census and birth for a Wilhelmina, I didnt realise you could search with just a first name, off to look now

I dont know for sure if this is him or who he married, I know for sure his DOB and who his parents are, on the 1891 census he is in Glasgow age 10, ive looked on 1911 census for scotland and couldnt find him so wondered if this was him in England, I thought it might be because the place of birth is the same.

Look for Wilhelmina in Scottish censuses.

How did you work back to him without knowing who he married?

On the 1911 census I found an Alexander Forbis with a wife Wilhelmina living in Gillingham in Kent, my Alexander Forbes was born in Galashiels on 20/10/1881, the same place as the Alexander on 1911 census, ive checked SP for a marriage and I cant find one, it says on 1911 that they have been married 7 years, Wilhelmina born Kingarth which is on the Isle of Bute, am I barking up the wrong tree here or could this be him, thanks in advance for any help or ideas.
