I am sorry I have not been able to reply before but I live in Oz - time difference. Thank you so much for all you have found, I am going to print it all out and try and sort through it. There are a few things there that need a closer look at. Somebody asked the question whom the witnesses were on the marriage certificate. When checking it out and I did notice this before that his name was down as the father but he did not sign as a witness, it was Richard Stanfield & Edmund Rees. I never really gave it a thought that he might be dead, which seems possible seeing as the marriage wasn't until 1872. With regard to the death in 1850 of Theophilus it is possible it could be Catherine Jones & Theophilus but Elizabeth would have been born then. ??? The trouble is Jones is a very difficult name but what you have given me is a chance at least to find out something. Thank you for your kindness Julia

Hi Julia
Who were the witnesses on the marriage certificates?
Do you know if Elizabeth had any siblings, I'm guessing you don't!

That 1861 does not appear to be your Theophilus I am afraid....

I am hoping there is somebody out there who can help me, I know Jones is a difficult name. I know only that he was a Collier in 1872 on his daughters marriage certificate, Elizabeth Jones born abt 1844 Monmouth & died 1910. At the time of her marriage to Semei Stanfield she was living 8 Cathays Terrace in the Parish of St John Cardiff, County of Glamorgan, so maybe he was too. She was also married before in 1865 to a William Stanfield so maybe she was living with her father in 1851/1861. I am trying to work backwards here.
Have just checked Ancestry and there was an 1861 Census with a Theophilus Jones born abt 1821 Carmarthenshire, wife Elizabeth and other John & Elizabeth which I take could be children. I cant access as I am not a member. Thought this might help. Any help would be appreciated Kind regards Julia
