Hi does anyone have access to Scottish bmd records. I am looking for details of Jean Wilkie (Wilkin) b approx 1893 who married Andrew McDonald. Unsure but would assume Portsay as possible birth place. died Elgin 1931 approx. |

IF you get the death certificate from Scotlandspeople, it will name her parents including her mother's maiden surname. Remember to select variants on Jean as she may have actually been named Jane or Jeanie. |

Thank you so much for looking, I know she died in Elgin in 1931 but know very little about her husband or anything about either of their parents, but they did have children, Andrew, Robert, Henry, Mary, Margaret & Jeanie. |

rootgatherer, thank you yes sorry Portsoy as a guess as my mother in law was born there. My mother in law was a young girl when her mother died and even younger when her father died hence the 'black hole' as such |

You mother-in-law's birth certificate will give the date and place of her parents' marriage. You can then look for the marriage certificate which will give the ages of the bride and groom, names and occupations of their fathers and names, including maiden surname of the mothers.. |
