Really stuck with this one, any help would be much appreciated.
This is what I know, William Henry Davies can be found on the 1851 census, residing in Marine Parade, Southampton, lodging with a Mrs Elizabeth Jenkins. Occupation Engineer, from his Marriage Cert I know he was a Marine Engineer, he married Matha Webb, Southampton. From the Marriage Cert I know his Father was Richard Davies, Lieutenant in the Royal Navy. His Son was born 1857 in Southampton. Later to become a Marine Engineer too.
I'd really like to know, when he died his Wife re-married again after 1871 Census, but not before the 1861. Also what did a Marine Engineer do and any leads with Richard Davies.
I have been stuck for years with this!!!!
Many Thanks Tracey

This seems to be the death of Richard, he is master in the Royal Navy. The original of his will is here, he mentions wife Sarah.

I believe above baptism is relevant as this looks to be above Sarah Eliza with her mother in 1861 census:-
1861 England Census about Sarah Davis Name: Sarah Davis Age: 60 Estimated Birth Year: 1801 Relation: Head Gender: Female Where born: Newfoundland Civil Parish: Mylor Ecclesiastical parish: St Peter County/Island: Cornwall Country: England Street Address:
xxxx Registration District: Falmouth xxxx Sub-registration District: Mylor ED, institution, or vessel: 1d Neighbors: View others on page Household Schedule Number: 112 Piece: 1564 Folio: 12 Page Number: 18 Household Members: Name Age Sarah Davis 60 - Master in R.N. Widow born:- 1801, Newfoundland Sarah E Davis 23 - Noted as Deaf Margeret Williams 25
......................Maybe worth looking into?
If it is correct, then this may also be relevant?
Frances Davies England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975 christening: 3 December 1840 Mylor, Cornwall, England residence: Cornwall, England father: Richard Davies mother: Sarah

Hi everyone
Thanks so much for all your threads and comments. Very interesting reading. I was wondering how I can prove this is all relevant. I can't place William with these guys. I do have a copy of the Will mentioned, but can't prove he's the Richard I am looking for, wish he was !! Thank you so much. Any further places I could look? Looking into Sarah this morning, it seems Sarah and Richard possibly married in Newfoundland. This is the only branch of my heritage that I can't get further than 1832.!!!! Any further ideas would be most welcome x
